The Animal Control nabbed me and took me to the noisy place called the SHELTER. I waited for my family to come bail out. But no one did-until this nice lady from Heart TO Heart saw my picture and got me out. I am now living in Irvine, CA with my foster Mom till I get a home of my very own. I am a brave little girl; I have already had all my vet stuff done. They gave me lots of shots (And I didn't even cry!). Luckily, my family had already fixed me-so no babies for me. In the evenings after my Mom gets home from work, we always go for a nice long walk. My favorite place to hang out is on the couch. My Mom calls me a couch potato. Night time finds me sleeping in my own bed, even though I would rather be held and cuddled on the BIG bed. I have never messed up in my crate and my Mom tells me I am a good girl!!! Meet Picasso, an adorable, sweet, 1 yr. old, 11 lb., male, Lhasa Apso and Shi-tzu mis. Picasso was saved from a high kill shelter after the 4th of July where many dogs/pup end up due to fire works. Poor scared Picasso was running the streets and brought to the shelter...no one came for him! His time was up and we just know he was very worth saving!! :( He was matted and full of fleas, so we had to shave him! (he has a lion cut) lol Obviously he was not well taken care of by his previous owners. Hard to believe because he is super sweet and gets along with everyone he meets! Such a loving little boy!! Hit by a car and then dumped in the shelter, poor Laramie didn't just have a broken pelvis...it was a jacked up broken pelvis which required plates to put her all back together! Klondike has that 'Lhasatude' that only really shows up when you try to move him when he is sleeping or pick him up when he is not ready to be picked up! Who likes to be moved when they are not expecting it anyway?? He really wants to please, but he needs to be in a home where he knows you are the boss of him and not the other way around!! MEET KASSI....who looks and acts like a puppy! Look at the size of those paws!! This 4-5 yr old, charcoal and white, LhasaTzu only weighs 13 lbs, although she looks much bigger! She is very fluffy and cuddly! Kassi came from the Castaic Shelter, but was horribly matted. A volunteer there took the time to brush her out, so that she could come to us the cutie patootie she is! Kassi prances like a puppy, plays like a puppy and loves to snuggle like a puppy! Her teeth give her age away, but her former family probably never had them cleaned and who knows what she was eating. She is a little picky in that department and prefers wet to dry ... (Read More)(but we're changing that!) One thing she doesn't like is other dogs getting near her food when she is eating (fine with people)! Would you? This little girl would be awesome in any home. She is quiet, even when she is left alone for a few hours. She would be great with kids and a family, or a single person, or a couple. She loves everyone almost as much as she loves attention and belly rubs! We do think that she might prefer being your one and only.....so she definitely could go as an only dog. MEET JOVANA.....and a sweeter, happier, friendlier Lhasa Apso, you will not meet! Jovana is gold/white with black tips, 16 lbs, 4 yrs old and a sweetheart. Her coat is like plush hush puppies! She's a cuddler and a snuggler and loves to give kisses! Jovana seems to get along with some dogs in a very small setting, but she can be extremely assertive when she is on a walk or in large groups of dogs...or on leash. She is very curious and animated ... but she really would prefer to be the only dog in the home. One of her big flaws is she can be an escape artist....she just wants to see everything around her. If I could have another dog, he would be it! Jonesy is a gorgeous, tri colored, 17 lb, 3 yr old, purebred Lhasa Apso. He has the most beautiful markings and is a complete doll. He came from the East Valley shelter, where he was dumped by his owners because he had a perianal hernia and they didn't have the money to pay for his surgery. Without it, he would die. He may need to be on medication for the rest of his life -- we are unsure at this point. But it's a small price to pay for living! Jonesy seems to be potty trained, but we can never guarantee. He loves to go for walks....plays with toys.... gives lots of kisses. He was a bit withdrawn when he first came to us, as he was uncomfortable and could not 'poop.' Once he knows you....he is your best friend! He is playful, loves other dogs, is very sociable and just a wonderful companion. Like I said, I would keep him if I could have another dog!! ITook this dog in 2 months ago she bonded with me right away. She has had no training, and is not house broken, which I discovered the first week. She hides under my bed or under my couch. I take her out in the yard every 2 hrs., and she comes in and pees or poops under my dining table I need help with her. I am 79 years old and I can not afford a trainer on my social security. I love animals, I have my Katie who I rescued when she was 2 and she is 14 now. Katie is just one of many dogs and assorted animals I have had who lived long and happy lives. MY son and five daughters were always bringing home strays and I could never turn them away. ... MEET GANDALF....and like his namesake from Lord of the Rings, this angel is a wise and old soul, despite his only 3-4 yrears of age. Gandalf was a wizard....but it wouldn't take a wizard to make you fall in love with him at first site. He is 15 lbs, tan and white, and true to the Lhasa breed....loyal and smart. One look into his big brown eyes will tell you that he will be your friend for life. His story is a bit sad, as he was being kept outside at a neighbor's home who couldn't decide whether she wanted him or not. His rescue angel talked the family into offering him a life that they could not provide him and they relinquished him to ... (Read More)them. Unfortunately, he had ulcers in his eyes that went untreated, so he has a bit of dry eye which will require drops (but can heal). He was also intact, had no vaccines, no chip and was matted to the bone, with sores covering his back, not to mention emaciated. Gandalf is now turning into the dog he should have been! He is a total lover and is almost too beautiful for words. He will lay on his back and let you rub his belly for hours! Show him a toy and he will follow you anywhere. This is a fantastic dog who wants to love you and be loved. He is still coming out of his shell but we believe the best home for him would be with older kids, another dog == and definitely someone around to dote on him and give him a ton of attention. We love this dog and know that the family who adopts him will love him just as much. He will need training....which will only help him bond closer to you and to his forever home. MEET BUSTAH....and he'll bust-a-move for you if you let him!! This gorgeous, grizzle colored, 2 yr old, 15 lb boy is as sweet as he is handsome. He has the most expressive, soulful eyes that just say, 'could you please just love me?' He was listed at the shelter as a Lhasa Papillon...but we think he is probably Lhasa mixed with a dash of Skye Terrier. That being said, he doesn't seem to shed and he has wonderful markings. MEET AUGIE....one of the sweetest and coolest Lhasa Apso around! This handsome boy has the cutest underbite that goes on for days!! He is a 4 yr old, b/w, 12.8 lb Lhasa, with maybe a touch of Shih Tzu in him because he is on the smaller side! This boy hails 'from' San Bernardino....a good place to be 'from' -- no longer! Augie has a wonderful temperament, but sadly, we don't think he was given a lot of love or attention. When he first arrived, he hesitated to ask for any love until all the other dogs were done....and then, reluctantly, he asked 'is it my turn?' It didn't seem to us that he was familiar with being stroked and pet, but ... (Read More)once he experienced it at LHH, he was IN!!! By the time we picked him up, the shelter had shaved his coat, which we were told was matted and full of foxtails and ticks. Augie gets along with everyone and has a wonderful temperament. He loves to go for walks and does his business as soon as he is out the door! That being said, we can't guarantee he is potty trained, but he is on his way if not totally! He would be wonderful with a family, a yard, another dog (or two) -- or he would love being your best friend, go to work with you or sit by your feet and watch you adoringly as you work! Oakley is a beautiful light gray and charcoal, 1- 2 yr old, Lhasa with a touch of 'oodle' mixed in, small in stature at only 12 lbs, but huge in the love department. Lhasa Apso Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Lhasa Apso is a darling long haired lap dog. Lhasa Apsos have a loud bark and make good watchdogs. Lhasa Apsos are friendly, but do not like to be teased by children. Lhasa Apsos are best suited to homes where they are the only pet, and need a firm master. Lhasa Apsos need to be with their people, and are good dogs with which to travel. This breed can live in an apartment if it gets enough activity and is walked every day.
